About
Our story
Fikr NJ began with a simple conviction: that every Muslim child in New Jersey deserves a place to learn the Qurʾān beautifully, understand their faith deeply, and grow into a person of sound character — what began as a small circle is now a learning home for families across the region.
Our name says it best. Fikr means thought and reflection — raising students who carry the Qurʾān in their hearts and its light in their conduct, across maktab, ḥifẓ, bayāns, and structured courses for teens and adults.
يَرْفَعِ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مِنكُمْ وَالَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْعِلْمَ دَرَجَاتٍ
“Allah will raise those who have believed among you and those who were given knowledge, by degrees.”
Sūrah al-Mujādila 58:11
Where we're headed
Our vision & mission
Two commitments that shape everything we do — the horizon we're working toward, and the daily work of getting there.
Looking ahead
Our vision
A New Jersey where every Muslim family has access to authentic Islamic education — raising confident, Qurʾān-centered Muslims who enrich their communities and carry knowledge to the next generation.
Why we teach
Our mission
To teach the Qurʾān and the Islamic sciences with excellence and compassion — nurturing recitation, understanding, and character so that sacred knowledge becomes a living part of each student’s life.
What guides us
The values behind every lesson
Sincerity of intention
Before anything else we ask who the work is for. Knowledge sought for Allah alone is the kind that stays — everything else thins out with time.
The heart of it
More than words on a page
Recitation and memorization are only the beginning. What we’re really cultivating is the character beneath them — the quiet qualities that turn sacred knowledge into a way of life.
